The management of Radio France will finally have been forced to backtrack on part of what it has been saying to the teams of France Musique and France Culture for a month. On June 7, during the morning editorial conference, Laurence Bloch, director of antennas and editorial strategy at Radio France, and Vincent Giret, director of information and sports, announced the abolition of information meetings from the France Musique schedule and the disappearance of the 10 p.m. news on France Culture.
According to our information, Mr. Giret informed the Radio France union representatives on Tuesday July 4 that the 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. newspapers of France Musique will finally remain on the air next season, as will the reminder of the 7:30 a.m. . “We avoided the worst, it’s half a victory”judge Raphaël Ebenstein, co-secretary of SNJ Radio France. “We save the furniture”slips a voice from the antenna requesting anonymity.
On June 22, the CGT Radio France seized the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) recalling Article 26 of Radio France’s mission and specifications which obliges the company to broadcast “every day and on a regular basis bulletins and newspapers (…) in each of its national programs”. According to the union, Mr. Giret had considered this obligation ” obsolete “arguing that it dated from 1987. “The management ended up giving in on the morning because they were stuck by the rules of the game”today analyzes a journalist from the station.

“An editorial impoverishment”
For the unions, it is impossible to fully rejoice because if the two morning newspapers of their station are maintained, they will increase from five to three minutes each. “We can claim to have made the management back down, but to tidy up the information in this way is unworthy of public service”chokes an employee of France Culture. “It remains an editorial impoverishment”, shouts another. Contacted, Mr. Giret and Marc Voinchet, director of France Musique, did not respond to our requests on Wednesday.
Still, the journalists contacted do not digest that the information appointments of 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. of France Musique disappear, just like the 10 p.m. newspaper of France Culture. “With this planing stroke, they anticipate the possible savings of the next COM [contrat d’objectifs et de moyens ] »analyzes a union representative.
