France issues international arrest warrant for Carlos Ghosn

France has issued an international arrest warrant for former car tycoon Carlos Ghosn, who was arrested in Japan at the end of 2018, and fled in alarming circumstances, prosecutors told AFP on Friday.
The memo relates to more than 15 million euros in suspicious payments between the Renault-Nissan alliance that Ghosn headed, prosecutors in the Paris suburb of Nanterre explained to AFP.
A spokesman for Carlos Ghosn, the former CEO of Renault and Nissan, said that Ghosn was “surprised” by earlier media reports that French prosecutors had issued an international arrest warrant for him.
“This is surprising,” Ghosn’s spokesman said. “Ghosn has always cooperated with the French authorities.”
The response from Ghosn’s spokesman came following the Wall Street Journal and French media reported that French prosecutors had issued an international arrest warrant for Ghosn.
