Paris: France has decided to hold a conference with the countries of the world to provide humanitarian aid to civilians while Israel continues to bombard the Gaza Strip. It is reported that France has invited representatives from 80 countries and organizations.
According to French government sources, the countries of the European Union, the United States, Jordan, Egypt and the Gulf countries are participating in the conference. The French presidency said officials from the United Nations and non-governmental organizations would also participate. Elysee said Israeli authorities would not attend the conference.
At the same time, the Presidency indicated that the Prime Minister of Palestine, Muhammad Shataiya, will also attend the conference. French President Emmanuel Macron called for a solution to the humanitarian problems of the conflict and called for the conference to address the growing needs of besieged Palestine for food, water, medical equipment, electricity and fuel.
Emmanuel Macron said he expects the top aid official of the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide details on the urgent needs in the Gaza Strip.
Paris has reportedly already provided 20 million euros ($21.4 million) in humanitarian aid to Palestine through the UN and other partners since the conflict began. In addition, the media reported that 54 tons of relief materials were sent to Egypt through three flights.
