National coach Domenico Tedesco comes up with a big surprise in his line-up for the France-Belgium match. Romelu Lukaku and Loïs Openda are both in the starting line-up.

There has been much speculation in recent weeks regarding the Red Devils’ line-up once morest France. After a mediocre group stage – with only one good match – there were many rumours regarding a major adjustment to the Belgian tactics. However, Tedesco and co. remained tight-lipped.

Lukaku and Openda

That surprising line-up has indeed come. Belgium will play once morest France with two strikers. Top scorer of all time Romelu Lukaku will have Loïs Openda next to him.

The latter scored 24 league goals for RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga last year, but has proven to be a lot less accurate in the past for the Red Devils. Now he must try to solve the Belgian scoring problems at the European Championship.

Carrasco

Furthermore, Leandro Trossard and Yoeri Tielemans will also disappear from the team once more. Yannick Carrasco will return to the starting line-up. It is currently not entirely clear how this experimental eleven will actually look on the field.

Tedesco may choose to play with three central defenders, namely Wout Faes, Jan Vertonghen and Arthur Theate. Wingers Timothy Castagne and Yannick Carrasco can play a lot higher in this way and follow for more attacking danger. In midfield, Amadou Onana remains the only controlling midfielder, while Kevin De Bruyne and Jérémy Doku will probably get a free role.
