France beats Italy in the European Women’s Championship

France beat Italy 5-1 on Sunday in the first round of Group D matches in the European Women’s Championship to be hosted by England.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Onima Ghiru snatched the star of the match by scoring a hat-trick (9, 40, 45), while Katoto scored a goal (12), as did Cascarino (38).

Italy’s only goal came thanks to Piedmont in the 76th minute, bringing her country to the bottom of the standings without a score of points.

France topped the group with three points, following the Belgium-Iceland match ended in a 1-1 draw.
