France beat Belgium and are in the quarter-finals of the Euro Cup

France beat Belgium 1-0 on Monday, July 1, in the round of 16 of the Euro 2024thus advancing to the next round.

Didier Deschamps’ team will play Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the quarter-finals.

In a goalless first half, in which the French were better but lacked accuracy and speed in the movement of the ball, Belgium did manage to spring a surprise, relying on waiting back and trying to counterattack, with the potential of Openda and Doku.

After the second half, everything seemed to follow the same script, although the French had more chances, especially in the first half, with several dangerous opportunities from Mbappé and long shots from Tchouameni.

In one of the last plays, in the 85th minute, following receiving a ball from Kanté, Kolo Muani turned and hit the ball badly, but when it touched Vertonghen, it went into the opponent’s goal, being the goal that gave France the victory.

The game ended 1-0, which means that Mbappé will continue his journey through the continental tournament, delaying his presentation at the Santiago Bernabéu, which will probably take place on July 16.
