fracture of the left big toe, it’s infernal

The NBA season has not even resumed yet, and we thought that the fate remained far too quiet with Markelle Fultz for the moment. The bad luck continues for the leader of the Orlando Magic who will have to observe an indefinite period of rest. His body will never leave him in peace.

Simply nightmarish, Markelle Fultz’s NBA career will therefore never be spared from injury. After his well-known shoulder struggles since his arrival in the NBA with the Sixers, Fultz more or less managed to launch his career following his transfer to the Magic. It turns to 11.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists average in 3 seasons in Orlando (but only 98 games), however, a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee put an end to the promising 2020-2021 season of the former Washington Huskies star. His return was eagerly awaited for this season, and the Florida franchise’s front office maintained their confidence in their player by offering him a $50 million over 3 years in 2021. Unfortunately, we will still have to wait a bit to see the leader at work, as the Orlando Magic announced on his Twitter account.

Even before the start of the season, we already know that Markelle Fultz will miss the Magic training camp which starts on Tuesday, and perhaps even the start of the regular season in the NBA. The “good news” if you can call it that, is that the damage suffered does not require an operation. He will still have to wear a protective boot to immobilize his toe, and his return to the courts will also be conditioned by his reaction to treatment and rehabilitation. But in general, it takes at least a month and a half to consolidate the injury… It’s starting to smell like a Christmas tree for Fultz who was hoping to start the season in the 5th major, and who will therefore unfortunately have to forget the idea. Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony will take care of positions 1 and 2 while RJ Hampton will be the understudy.

Markelle Fultz’s career is slowly but surely beginning to look like a bust. Repeated injuries continue to hamper this player full of potential, but he may never exploit. It looks like Paul Pogba’s marregarding has hit the wrong target…
