FPÖ application for compliance with the EU accession criteria, once morest Ukraine’s EU accession and for maintaining the unanimity principle was rejected in the EU subcommittee
Vienna (OTS) – “When it comes to pandering to the EU elites to the detriment of our homeland and our population, the two governing parties act with the red-pink pseudo-opposition in the worst possible political unity. This unity party, which is loyal to Brussels, showed that once more yesterday, while only the FPÖ is on the side of the Austrians!” said FPÖ European spokeswoman NAbg. Petra Steger and FPÖ economic spokesperson NAbg. Dr. Axel Kassegger sharply criticized the ÖVP, the Greens, the SPÖ and NEOS. The reason for this is the rejection of a liberal motion at yesterday’s meeting of the EU subcommittee, which included a request to the federal government to demand full compliance with the Copenhagen EU accession criteria from all EU institutions, which entails a veto once morest EU accession negotiations States at war, such as Ukraine, and to commit themselves unreservedly to maintaining the unanimity principle at EU level.
“It is obvious that the EU establishment wants to push through the enlargement of the Union regardless of the losses. Not to mention Ukraine, which is an active warring party and therefore it can only be completely irresponsible ‘madness’ to even consider joining the EU!” said NAbg. Petra Steger, who reiterated FPÖ federal party chairman Herbert Kickl’s demand for a federal government veto once morest Ukraine’s accession to the EU. The principle of unanimity must therefore be fully maintained at EU level.
This is what FPÖ economics spokesman NAbg emphasized. Dr. Axel Kassegger, “essential for the preservation of our sovereignty”: “The unanimity principle is therefore also the number one enemy of the Brussels centralists, as it represents one of the last ‘disruptive factors’ in the establishment of the ‘United States of Europe’. Above all, they have found a willing accomplice in the ÖVP; Constitutional Minister Edtstadler and Foreign Minister Schallenberg repeatedly come out to shake this principle and thus shift even more power and authority to Brussels. Only we, the free, are resisting this in the interests of the sovereignty and perpetual neutrality of our homeland!”
A political change is therefore also necessary in European politics for a positive future for Austria. “The well-being and interests of the Austrians must come first and not the ideology-driven plans of the EU elites, which must be clearly rejected if they harm our country. Only an FPÖ-led federal government with a People’s Chancellor Herbert Kickl would ensure that!” said the two liberal MPs.
