ÖVP club chairman sees successes from Chancellor Nehammer where there are none. Inflation is still a massive problem in our country
Vienna (OTS) – “The only domino that has to fall is this black-green federal government!” This is how FPÖ General Secretary NAbg reacted today. Michael Schnedlitz on the jubilation of ÖVP club chairman Wöginger, who wants to sell the meager price reductions of some electricity providers as a great success of ÖVP Chancellor Nehammer. “The FPÖ has already put proposals against the avalanche of costs on the table, when ÖVP deputies still claimed that people are only imagining the inflation because the opposition parties claim that the cost of living has risen. As early as May 2020, we in Parliament for the first time called for a corresponding motion to set up a shopping basket, which should contain all essential basic goods, such as food, rent, heating costs and fuel, and provide for an obligation to provide information in the event of deviations from the price range as well as the regulation of price freezes in case of an occasion. ÖVP, Greens and the sham opposition parties SPÖ and Neos were against it. So if Wöginger misses the FPÖ’s concepts against inflation, then he simply doesn’t want to see them.”
The situation in the energy sector is particularly precarious. In the last two years, providers have increased their prices by a factor of six in some cases. “The sporadic price reductions that are now taking place are in fact long overdue when you look at international developments. The ‘Nehammer effect’ in this development is de facto not measurable,” said Schnedlitz with conviction.
Only in the last few days has it become apparent that many food prices in Austria are on average almost twenty percent more expensive than in Germany and that the inflation rate is also well above the average value in the euro zone. FPÖ General Secretary NAbg. Michael Schnedlitz: “All of this shows that the black-green-red-pink unity party has turned our homeland into a ‘price hotspot’ in Europe. The increasingly worsening poverty and social crisis is destroying the hard-earned prosperity and social security in our country and cannot be remedied by the black-green’s ice-cold alms and voucher mentality. The cause of the price explosion must be tackled at the root: stop the senseless sanctions policy and the green ideological wave of climate pollution!”
