FPÖ – Reifenberger: “Early involvement of Parliament in the development of the new security strategy is essential!” | Liberal Parliament Club

Vienna (OTS) “For us, early involvement of Parliament in the development of the new security strategy is essential. The issues of security and self-sufficiency are simply too important not to be discussed with the opposition parties. In any case, we will pay attention to how the ÖVP and the Greens deal with our neutrality and our security,” said the freedom spokesman for the NAbg. Mag. Volker Reifenberger on today’s Council of Ministers decision of the black-green government to develop a new security strategy. “Austria is already constantly breaking neutrality and with the new security strategy it is to be feared that this failed black-green policy is intended to prepare the ground for such a breach of the constitution. In any case, it must not become a hidden federal crisis security law, ”continues Reifenberger.

“Perpetual neutrality is our identity feature and a protective shield for Austria and this is not only enshrined in our federal constitution, but is also described as ‘inevitable’ in the government program of the ÖVP and the Greens. I hope that the ÖVP chancellor and his green vice chancellor will not suddenly forget this when the strategy is being drawn up. The Greens in particular have always shaken our military independence and thus our constitution,” explained Reifenberger, who recalled that the FPÖ had already tabled a number of motions in Parliament for a security strategy. “However, these were rejected on March 24 and November 17, 2022 in the meetings of the National Council of the ÖVP and the Greens, and a third application has been postponed since June 9, 2022 in the parliamentary state defense committee. Unfortunately, such an approach shows that the government factions really don’t care regarding the concerns of the opposition – but that doesn’t bode well for the new security strategy,” said the FPÖ spokesman.
