Liberal criticism of Wien Energie has now also been confirmed by E-Control
Vienna (OTS) – While the prices for electricity and gas on the global energy market are constantly falling, Wien Energie continues to charge far too high costs to its customers. This is now also confirmed by E-Control, which considers the prices for new customers to be excessive. “Months ago, Mayor Ludwig and Finance Councilor Hanke should have stopped Wien Energie’s price gouging, which has brought many people to the edge of their existence. Instead, they watched benevolently as Wien Energie and thus also Wiener Stadtwerke made millions in profits at the expense of the citizens. Such behavior is more than dishonest,” said Vienna FPÖ boss, City Councilor Dominik Nepp, who is still demanding that the profits be returned to Wiener and thus provide real relief.
Nepp is critical of Hanke’s announcement that he intends to significantly reduce Wien Energie’s prices by the end of June: “What are we still waiting for in the town hall? Such a measure is long overdue and it is hard to see why the exact procedure has not yet been presented and why people are waiting until the end of June. The Viennese have the right to finally be helped out of this misery caused by the city-owned company and not to be comforted with promises once more,” concludes Nepp.
