FPÖ calls for reason and action in the interests of the citizens!

Vienna (OTS) “Initiating an economic war with China in the current inflationary crisis, which was homemade by the EU, is absolutely irresponsible and will – just like with the sanctions once morest Russia – only damage the European economy and the citizens in the long term. Instead, we need an immediate stop to sanctions and no further destruction of our hard-earned prosperity,” said FPÖ Europe spokeswoman NAbg. Petra Steger and FPÖ foreign policy spokesman NAbg. MMMag. dr Axel Kassegger in unison on the published European Commission paper on a realignment of China policy in the form of sanctions.

“This is the continuation of the haphazard ‘EU bang on policy’ without any diplomacy to the detriment of the European population, its economy and its prosperity,” said Kassegger, who emphasized China’s importance as a trading partner. He sees a boomerang effect in the planned sanctions once morest China: “As was clearly evident from the sanctions once morest Russia, these have harmed Europe more than Russia. China has also announced that it will defend itself once morest sanctions. In a situation of mega-inflation and economic crisis, therefore, to make the situation even worse with one’s eyes open can only be described as absolutely irresponsible.”

“This madness at EU level must finally come to an end. The Austrian government is therefore called upon to act in the interests of its own people and to clearly reject the sanctions package. Otherwise, our inflation-plagued country is threatened with total economic and trade collapse,” emphasized Steger.

For the liberal Europe spokeswoman, sanctions once morest one of Europe’s and Austria’s most important trading partners are also renewed evidence of the unconditional US obedience of EU Commission President von der Leyen and her “accomplices”: “Once once more, the EU is letting the USA in front of the Draw carts and do the dirty work for them. The USA will benefit, while Europe will have to pay for it once more. If the EU seriously believes that it can prevent Russian supplies of important goods, that can only be described as illusory. Trade will of course continue, just via other countries. The only thing that has been achieved through the advance is that relations with another country are now massively damaged and China is being driven further into the arms of the Russians – a foreign policy meltdown!”

“But this also shows the hypocritical double standards of the EU. When the USA imposed secondary sanctions in 2018 and thus massively damaged the European economy, the Brussels bureaucrats still described this as violating international law. Now the same game is being pushed by the EU once morest China and suddenly it’s no longer a problem,” said Steger.

Steger and Kassegger finally called for a stop to the “anti-business sanctions policy of the EU centralists”: “The von der Leyens and Co. will not be dissuaded from their plans of self-destruction, although the negative consequences are now visible to everyone in this country and the EU and above all noticeable. In the EU elections next year, however, the electorate in Brussels will be presented with the bill for their fatal policy.”
