FPÖ application regarding “Enabling energy cost subsidies or flat rate energy costs for tourist landlords with income in accordance with Section 28 EStG”
Vienna (OTS) – “I find it brazen that ÖVP Minister Kocher stated today that the ÖVP supports many small businesses.” In reality, the ÖVP is a lobbyist association for the really large companies, the ÖVP has long since forgotten regarding the small and medium-sized companies,” criticized the liberal tourism spokesman NAbg today. Gerald Hauser in his contribution to the debate, who cited private landlords as a classic example of this ÖVP approach.
“What can a tourist business do for the fact that it has to bill up to five holiday apartments and up to 30 beds under Section 28 of the Income Tax Act – the landlords did not choose this, but it is a requirement,” explained Hauser and continued: “Already in the Corona period Time in which these companies did not receive any compensation for a long time because they were closed by the government. They did not receive any compensation because they settled accounts for rental and leasing in accordance with Section 28 of the Income Tax Act. During this time, we were constantly committed to these companies because we cared regarding these small businesses. But what really frustrates me is the fact that the ÖVP and the Greens don’t learn anything from this. Because when it comes to energy cost subsidies, the government has once once more ignored these ‘§ 28 companies’ because these companies are simply worth nothing for the ÖVP and the Greens. These companies were therefore excluded from the eligibility criteria for the energy cost subsidy.”
Therefore, later in his speech, Hauser submitted a motion calling on the black-green government to immediately ensure that those tourist landlords who earn their income in accordance with Section 28 of the Income Tax Act are also given the opportunity to apply for an energy cost subsidy or a flat rate for energy costs.”
