The data collection that comes into force today as part of the “sticker” is a further step towards “transparent citizens” and the restriction of private transport
Vienna (OTS) – As a “further step towards total citizen surveillance” criticized today FPÖ traffic spokesman and Secretary General NAbg. Christian Hafenecker, MA the collection of vehicle consumption data that came into force today as part of the §57a inspection of vehicles and their subsequent transmission to the EU environmental authority by the Ministry of Transport.
“The encroaching EU, which is increasingly interfering in the internal affairs of its sovereign member states, would like to access highly sensitive consumption data, including CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, of all vehicles including the 17-digit chassis number, which means that all data records are linked to the individual registration owner can be traced back. This is a further step towards ‘transparent citizens’ and, in connection with the CO2-fixated climate hysteria of the Brussels establishment, gives rise to serious fears,” Hafenecker warned that the extensive data collection might be followed by the “denunciation of allegedly ‘climate-damaging’ vehicles.
“This opens the door to bans or penalties once morest alleged ‘climate sinners’. Because the hostility towards motorists and the individual mobility of the citizens is just as inherent in the EU elite as it is in the Greens and Minister of Transport Gewessler, who behaves like a ‘high priestess’ of eco-Marxism. Because if you look at the discourses that are already being conducted in some circles of self-proclaimed ‘climate savers’, then it is anything but unrealistic that we might soon be discussing personal CO2 budgets following collecting the individualized vehicle consumption data,” he said free traffic spokesman further out.
Hafenecker therefore called on the federal government to stop the forwarding of vehicle consumption data to the EU: “Not a single Austrian was asked whether he wanted to send his car data to Brussels or not and was not informed accordingly by the government that this survey and Transmission can be rejected before the ‘Pickerl’ check. This is unacceptable and must be stopped!”
