The waste of tax money by the “ÖVP Abuse of Power Investigative Committee” remains to be clarified in detail
Vienna (OTS) – The liberal parliamentary group leader in both investigative committees and FPÖ General Secretary NAbg described today as a “helpless ÖVP fairy tale hour out of pure desperation”. Christian Hafenecker, MA, described the content of today’s press conference by ÖVP parliamentary group leader Hanger: “It was nothing other than a repetition of accusations once morest the FPÖ that have long since been refuted. When the ÖVP and MP Hanger talk regarding wasting taxpayers’ money, it is tantamount to unrestrained self-accusation. Because simply by setting up this ‘ÖVP abuse of power investigation committee’, the ÖVP is committing an abuse of power. By delivering files, it causes senseless countless hours of work in the ministries at taxpayer expense, just to sabotage the clarification of the ‘two-class system’ in favor of the ÖVP environment in the COFAG investigative committee! We will still find out exactly how much tax money this ÖVP diversionary maneuver costs in inquiries.”
What is remarkable, according to Hafenecker, is that Hanger has now literally identified Jan Marsalek, who, among other things, met with the then ÖVP Interior Minister and current National Council President Sobotka for a friendly dinner in May 2017, as a “Russian spy”. “The question arises as to what exactly Sobotka and Marsalek discussed there and also what role Marsalek’s Wirecard partner, ÖVP donor and member of ÖVP Chancellor Kurz’s think tank Markus Braun played. At least we know that there was intelligence exchange in this think tank. It will therefore be interesting to see whether the ÖVP will invite Sobotka to provide information, because without him Mr. Hanger will hardly be able to provide clarification here. It will also be telling how Wolfgang Sobotka wants to chair the U-committee on this topic, even though he himself had close contact with Marsalek,” said Hafenecker.
All of Hanger’s further accusations would also be in vain and would not be without a certain amount of bizarreness: “Reinhard Teufel was invited by the ÖVP to provide information, agreed and was then uninvited once more. It’s only understandable that he can’t change his schedule within two days just because the ÖVP changed its mind. And as far as the use of the company car as head of cabinet was concerned, this was clearly based on the legal basis, and direct contact with the police stations outside was an important concern. In contrast, it must be questioned why Sobotka, as Interior Minister, spent around 152,000 euros on private jet flights between April and December 2016 alone!”
Dual functions between the ministry line and the cabinet are nothing unusual and should not be unknown to the ÖVP in particular. “Keyword is Michael Takacs, who worked in the ÖVP cabinet in the Ministry of the Interior and for whom the position of Federal Police Director was created specifically, and not to forget the around a hundred PR employees in Nehammer’s Federal Chancellery,” Hafenecker clarified and saw Hanger’s criticism in a contract award in the area of public relations “the rounding off of his bizarre appearance”: “What does colleague Hanger want to clarify regarding a contract that he himself discovered that it never came regarding? The ÖVP is apparently no longer embarrassed by any nonsense when trying to distract from their abuse of power, their favoritism surrounding the Corona compensation and the ‘deep black state’!”
