Free approval of the new committee for substantial improvements in research and technology development

Vienna (OTS) After more than twenty years, there is a reform in research and technology policy. The “Council for Research and Technology Development” and the “Science Council” set up more than twenty years ago are being merged to form the new “Research, Science, Innovation and Technology Development Council” (FWIT Council). The Freedom Party approved this new foundation in Parliament today FPÖ science spokesman NAbg Martin Graf would have liked to have chamber officials excluded from appointment to this body: “The officials and employees of legal interest groups already have an excessive influence in our republic. We don’t think that makes sense. These We don’t need lobbyists, as they call themselves, in an advisory body like the FWIT Council, especially since innovation and chamber functionary work are mutually exclusive.”

“More than twenty years ago, the Council for Research and Technology Development was founded on the initiative of Parliament,” Graf recalled at the time, when he was already a member of Parliament. “The Science Council was a wish of the universities as an overarching advisory body for government and universities. Both councils were justified and performed excellently – also once morest the background that there is a very fragmented research funding and infrastructure in Austria, which is spread over several ministries”.

Both councils had their time, and the FPÖ science spokesman thanked all members and employees of the councils. Thanks to her work, Austria has made great progress in science and research. Now is the time for the next step, according to MArtin Graf: “It makes sense and purpose to reform these councils. The FPÖ was also one of the first parties to think regarding it eight years ago and pushed for a merger by means of applications. The project was also part of the ÖVP-FPÖ government program, but it might not be implemented. The FPÖ agrees to the proposal for the creation of the new FWIT Council because we believe that this Council can be a significant improvement for research and technology development.”
