Vienna (OTS) – FPÖ – Fuchs to ÖVP-Kocher: Neoliberal minister gives a damn regarding citizens and protects those who profit from the crisis
“The anti-citizen and neo-liberal ÖVP Minister Kocher obviously gives a damn regarding Austria’s citizens and has allowed himself to be ‘bagged’ by financial groups that are emerging as winners of the crisis. There is no other explanation for his statements that he sees no excess profits from the banks. And that despite the fact that the interest surpluses of the financial institutions rose by 45 percent to over six billion euros in the first quarter of 2023,” the liberal finance and budget spokesman NAbg reacted today. “If then the bank division chairman in the Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) and Erste Group boss Willibald Cernko thinks they want to accommodate borrowers with variable interest rates who get into individual problems because of the high interest rates and doesn’t even have a clue how he can wants to do that, the whole thing probably has a bitter followingtaste once more. We Liberals stand by our population and once once more demand a bank excess profit tax or an increase in the bank levy, reasonable interest on savings and account balances and a suspension of the capital gains tax (KESt). The financial groups now have the opportunity to thank the citizens who raised billions in tax money to save the banks in 2008,” emphasized Fuchs.
