Article in the AK postille “AK for You” reveals the mentality of the left-wing “education experts”
Vienna (OTS) – Vienna Chamber of Labor members recently found the new edition of the members’ magazine “AK für Sie” in their mailbox. In it, an “expert” from the Vienna Education Directorate said that “all languages should be equally important and worth the same” – and continued: “Old colonial languages such as English, French or Spanish have a high status in Austrian society, as do languages of immigrant groups over the last decades, such as Arabic, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian or Turkish, are repeatedly devalued.” For FPÖ education spokesman NAbg. Hermann Brückl reveals several problems with this statement: “Especially in Vienna, there are classes where often not even a single child has German as their mother tongue. Learning progress often looks correspondingly poor because the students cannot follow the lessons. No child should be deprived of their own mother tongue, but German and internationally widely used languages such as English or Spanish must first and foremost be taught more intensively. The attitude of the ‘expert’ from the Education Directorate shows once again where the SPÖ is drifting when it comes to the issue of education.”
It is definitely positive that children grow up speaking multiple languages. But it must be ensured that the German language comes first. Brückl: “German, spoken and written, is the basis for later life. It is important to master German in professional life and everyday life. Anyone who speaks another language in addition to German has even better qualifications. But I warn against teaching offensives for Arabic, Turkish or other immigrant languages. With such a focus apparently desired by the SPÖ, the parallel societies that already exist, especially in large cities, will expand even further, which cannot be in our interest either.
