Abolition of the blocked retirement model is the next step in the black-green social cuts agenda

Vienna (OTS) – Criticism of the defacto end of the model of blocked partial retirement was expressed today by FPÖ social spokesperson and club chairman NAbg. Dagmar Belakowitsch in her speech in the National Council: “It remains on paper, but it will no longer be supported. These are the usual sleight of hand – just like in the Corona period. It was also claimed that the schools were open. In reality, the children were at home. The model of blocked partial retirement was only used by around three percent of people, but it was of enormous importance for the economy. For example, successors could be trained well; the model made sense. Black-Green has now defacto abolished it.”

Many employees who were no longer able to work as well for health reasons were also happy to opt for blocked partial retirement. Belakowitsch: “After shortening the waiting period, today’s decision by the Black-Green Party is a further step in this government’s social cuts. And if the ÖVP says they want to solve the problems of the time, then I answer: To do that, you have to look to the future. The ÖVP is creating the problems of the future with its politics. Although there are 200,000 job vacancies, we also have 400,000 unemployed people, and the trend is rising rapidly. This is also why the model of blocked partial retirement was a good model. Abolishing it therefore falls short.”
