The number of unemployed foreigners and foreign training participants is increasing – more than half of the training participants are foreigners

Vienna (OTS) “No, we do not need immigration into our labor market to be able to cope with the shortage of skilled workers! Because the immigrants who are lured into our country with social benefit treats are neither willing to work according to our standards, nor do they speak German. Most of them cannot even read or write in their mother tongue and need to be literate in the first place! So the ÖVP and the Greens want to explain to us that we can solve our shortage of skilled workers with illiterates?” said FPÖ social spokeswoman and club chairman deputy NAbg. Dagmar Belakowitsch on the current figures from the Public Employment Service (AMS) and an article in the “Kronen Zeitung”, according to which the level of education of those entitled to asylum and subsidiary protection has deteriorated significantly in recent years. If more people with a higher level of education came to Austria in 2015 and 2016, 7 out of 10 immigrants in 2022 were illiterate. This is the result of the latest figures from the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF).

“The current AMS figures and the figures from the ÖIF prove once once more that the uncontrolled immigration into the Austrian labor market, propagated by the ÖVP including the Greens, SPÖ and NEOS, is just a disgrace at the expense of the Austrian social system and has an impact on the labor market . That has to be turned off immediately!” Belakovich continued. The current figures would once once more refute ÖVP Labor Minister Kocher’s “immigration smear”: “While the number of unemployed Austrians fell by 3.3 percent compared to the previous year, the number of unemployed foreigners rose by 10.4 in April 2023 percent compared to April 2022. Almost 40 percent of the unemployed are foreigners. When it comes to trainees, the figures are even more alarming: the number of domestic trainees fell by 5.63 percent in April, but the number of foreign trainees rose by 5.6 percent, meaning that more than half of those in training are now foreign nationals are.”
