In view of the catastrophic storm, the FPÖ is once more demanding full damage coverage for storm victims and a special investment package from the federal government for emergency organizations
Klagenfurt – “The current events show once once more that the victims of the storm must be helped quickly and unbureaucratically. Now we all have to pull together to support those affected,” explains Carinthian FPÖ leader Club Chairman Erwin Angerer today in view of the devastating storms in Carinthia and Styria.
“The government has been saying for years that those affected by storm disasters must be helped quickly and in a targeted manner. But unfortunately nothing happened. Now we finally have to find a solution across party lines to at least relieve the victims of the storm of the burden of material damage. In the National Council, the FPÖ has repeatedly called for emergency aid for disaster victims and full compensation for financial damage to those affected. In the Carinthian state parliament, we recently launched an initiative for a security and civil protection package in order to enforce 100% compensation for storm victims and at the same time to equip emergency organizations with the necessary equipment. These are good approaches to being able to help quickly,” said Angerer, referring to the corresponding FPÖ application.
Since the disaster fund often only covers a fraction of the damage, those affected are often left with the rest, so that in many places there is also a risk of financial catastrophe: “In the case of the storms in the Carinthian valley last year, it was mainly private donations that cushioned the financial burden might. However, reliable compensation for damages by the federal and state governments and the implementation of the federal government’s special investment package, which we are calling for, are needed to support emergency organizations in purchasing equipment for disaster control. Provincial Governor Peter Kaiser is asked to push this through as chairman of the Provincial Governors’ Conference in the course of financial equalization,” said Angerer’s appeal to the SPÖ governor.
“Thank you to all our emergency services who are tirelessly helping the victims in the disaster areas during these challenging hours! Our thanks go to the volunteers and our sympathy to those affected, to whom we promise to continue to campaign for complete and rapid disaster relief at the political level,” the FPÖ leader concludes.
