The announced reforms are as follows:
- There will be no promotion of Copa Peru.
- Promotions will only be from League 2 (2 clubs will go up).
- VAR will be implemented from 2023.
- There will be no Pool of Minutes in League 1 2023.
- Revalidation between League 1 and League 2 clubs is eliminated.
- League 1 2023 will be with 19 teams with 3 relegations (League 1 2024 with 18).
- The Bicentennial Cup and the Super Cup are deactivated.
- The sub-21 category reserve tournament and the sub-18 pre-reserve tournament will be played.
The VAR will arrive for 2023
The president of the Peruvian Football Federation, Agustín Lozano, announced that an evaluation commission will work from October so that the stadiums have the necessary infrastructure to apply VAR in League 1.
