After the two most successful FOX dramas 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star were extended (we reported), the series naturally continues in third place in the ratings ranking. The Resident (better known locally as “Atlanta Medical“) is awarded a fifth season by the network station.
Tonight, May 18th, the finale of the current season four will be running in the USA. So the news of the renewal doesn’t come a day too soon, so fans don’t have to worry regarding the future of their favorite series. The Resident returns next fall in its Tuesday night slot.
The most recent average rating for the series was 0.6 in the -relevant target group. As I said, third place of all FOX dramas, following 9-1-1 (with 1.1) and 9-1-1: Lone Star (with 0.9). The ratings for The Resident fall year following year – as is actually the case with most series. In season three the rating was still 0.7, in season two it was 0.9 and in season one it was 1.0 in the target group. The format celebrated its premiere in 2018.
Recently, it was leaked that actress Shaunette Renee Wilson, who viewers play as Dr. know Okafor, The Resident leaves. And so is Morris Chestnut, better known as neurosurgeon Barrett Cain, taking a step back, though he still remains on board as a recurring Alex Reed star.
Remaining in the cast are Matt Czuchry (Gilmore Girls) as rebellious Doctor Conrad Hawkins, Emily VanCamp (Revenge) as nurse Nic Nevin, Manish Dayal (90210) as Devon Pravesh, Malcolm-Jamal Warner (“The Cosby Show“) as AJ “The Raptor“ Austin, Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story) als Randolph Bell und Jane Leeves (Frasier) als Kit Voss.

In Germany you can follow the series on ProSieben, but you can also binge in the Star section of Disney+ right from the start.
