The Kazakh Elena Rybakina, fourth player in the world and seeded N.4, withdrew just before her third round against the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (WTA 132) scheduled for Saturday, the organizers announced.
“Unfortunately, Elena Rybakina had to forfeit her match,” the organizers said on Twitter without giving further details. The match between Rybakina and Sorribes Tormo was the first of the day scheduled on the Philippe-Chatrier court.
Winner of the Rome tournament before arriving in Paris, Rybakina was one of the main candidates for victory on Parisian clay. The Kazakh also won Indian Wells this year and Wimbledon last year.
