Fourth exit in a row: Gorillas run away from the top managers

Fourth exit in a row
Gorillas run away from the top managers

For months, the gorillas delivery service has been raging over better working conditions. But founder Sümer apparently not only has problems with his employees, but also with his management. The fourth top manager is leaving the company in a very short time.

It wasn’t until the end of 2021 that retail expert Ronny Gottschlich hired gorillas for the 10-minute delivery service. As commercial director, he took care of goods procurement and logistics, among other things. But the collaboration should not last long. As the industry portal “Gründerszene” reports, Gottschlich has already resigned from his position.

At the request of the portal, the company confirmed the departure: “Ronny Gottschlich already retired from his position last year. He will continue to support the company as a consultant until May 2022.” In the corporate environment, according to the report, there are said to have been difficulties in working with Gorillas founder and managing director Kagan Sümer, because he is considered quick-tempered and temperamental.

Gottschlich is not the first top manager to have left the startup because of this. Jörg Kattner, who founded the lightning delivery service together with Sümer in summer 2020, also left the company following six months. The former Germany boss of the food delivery service Deliveroo and managing director of Gorillas, Felix Chrobog, did not stay with the company any longer. Technology boss Ronny Shibley worked for the startup for a year before turning his back on gorillas.

In the case of gorillas, there is a conflict between the drivers and the company regarding better working conditions. After long arguments, the employees have had their own works council since the beginning of December. The management had tried to prevent the election in court, but most recently failed before the Berlin State Labor Court. The startup is currently checking whether further steps can be taken.
