Four victims, including a child

In recent hours, news of a multiple murder in Ceballos, Ciego de Ávila province, has gone viral in Cuba.

According to the local newspaper, Invaderthe competent authorities of the province of Ciego de Ávila are investigating the causes of a multiple murder in which four people lost their lives in the town of Ceballos, this Saturday.

According to the information provided, among the victims is a four-year-old minor, identified as Richard Dariel Núñez.

The other victims of the crime are Lester Rivadeneira Rodríguez, a 17-year-old; Yamila Reyes Tamayo, 29; and Raysa Rodríguez Pérez de Corcho, 50.

The note states that “as soon as sufficient evidence is available, the people will be informed.” It also states that “revolutionary justice will once again take charge of nipping impunity in the bud.”

User Mislady Morell wrote on Facebook: “I feel immense pain, frustration, anger, rage and helplessness for what just happened to my cousin and her child, a teenager of only 16 years old who was just beginning to live, to her neighbor and her little son of only 4 years old.”

“These four people lost their lives unscrupulously at the hands of a wild beast. This has no other description. I hope that whoever did this pays for all the damage they have caused. Cuba is lost and we cannot save our loved ones from evil and misery,” he added in his post.

Murder: Cuban penal code

The Cuban penal code punishes with imprisonment of twenty to thirty years, life imprisonment or death anyone who kills another person, concurring in any of the following circumstances:

  1. i) commit the act to prepare, facilitate, consummate or conceal another crime;
  2. j) acting out of sadistic impulses or brutal perversity;
  3. m) committing the act with the motive or occasion or as a consequence of committing a crime of theft with force against property, robbery with violence or intimidation against persons, corruption of minors or sexual assault.
