The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) warns Sunday morning once morest slippery conditions on the roads, especially in the provinces of Liège, Limburg, Namur and Luxembourg.
The yellow warning is valid from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday. The IRM announces that on the road network of these provinces patches of ice can still form “due to melting water which freezes or hardened snow”. In regions with a thick layer of snow, especially in the Ardennes and Campine, traffic can also be disrupted once more.
The institute still predicts occasional light snowfall, especially in the east of the country. “On the heights of the Ardennes, these snowfalls will sometimes be more intense and an additional layer of 1 or 2 cm in 6 hours is expected, or even a few cm more in the Hautes Fagnes”, announces the IRM.
Snow depths of the order of 1 to 4 cm are expected until Sunday evening in Liège, from 0 to 2 cm in the provinces of Luxembourg and Namur, and from 0 to 1 cm in Limburg.
In terms of traffic, the federal road police announced on Sunday morning an accident on the N25 near Court St-Etienne towards Nivelles. The passage there difficult and the situation dangerous.
A vehicle is also broken down in an interchange of the E411 near Leonard in the direction of Zaventem. The left band is obstructed there.
