Nearly four months following the stroke that took him away from the prime ministership, Malian Prime Minister Choguel Maïga is back. At least, he organized his public return on Friday. He was received by the President of the transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta, and he addressed Mali.

Prime Minister Choguel Maïga’s day began on the heights of Bamako, seat of the presidential palace. He met Colonel Assimi Goïta on the spot. Dressed in a traditional outfit, the few images and photos broadcast by the state press showed him smiling in the company of the President of the Transition.

Then, he went to the prime minister’s office to greet his collaborators and to register his address at the national. In his intervention, he gives news of his health: “ By the grace of Allah, following three months awayhere I am once more among you in possession of my physical and intellectual abilities. Choguel Maïga then quickly gets on his high horse, recalling what he believes characterizes the action of the Malian junta: refoundation, sovereignty, and free choice of Mali’s strategic partners.
Two prime ministers
Back on the political scene, Choguel Maïga has not yet found the chair of head of government. The decree of appointment of the interim prime minister has not yet been repealed. For the moment, Mali has two prime ministers. One on paper, the other exercising the fullness of the function. According to our information, the President of the transition Assimi Goïta should soon decide.
