“It will be my first triathlon experience. I’m looking forward to it. And if I’m going to do it, I want to finish the race in such a way that it looks like something,” said Strýcová, who gave birth to her daughter Josefína in May. She also has a two-year-old son Vincent with her partner Petr Matějček.
“I can’t keep up with any honest training. When I find an hour of time, I try to put my body together after giving birth. But I can’t imagine going on a bike ride for four hours with children. I would at least need to learn how to crawl, because I can’t do it yet,” said the Olympic bronze medalist in doubles with Lucía Šafářová from Rio de Janeiro 2016 and the holder of 32 doubles titles on the WTA circuit. She ended her tennis career in which she also won two singles titles last September.
Her partner is engaged in triathlon, with whom she consults about preparation. “I ask him a lot, but he just laughs at my questions. Because, for example, I’m afraid that I’ll get lost on the track or that I won’t know how to change in the depot. I’m a big amateur. Ignorant. But I’m happy to try it and I’ll take it more with a grain of salt. On the other hand, I want to finish with dignity if I go for it,” declared Strýcová. In the past, she stated that she was also attracted to the Prague Marathon. She has already completed shorter running races.
