Four fires in Frøya in one week – the police suspect arson

On the night of Tuesday, a garage caught fire in Frøya. The garage was a few hundred meters from a shed where there was a fire on Sunday. On Tuesday the week before, a fire broke out on two islets in the same evening. The police suspect that all of these have been set on fire, writes Adresseavisen.

On Tuesday 9 July, the fire service in Trøndelag went out to an islet outside Sørdyrøya in Frøya municipality.

There are no buildings or electricity on the islet, which makes the police think that it was set on fire.

– There was also no lightning that would indicate that a fire would start there, says police contact Helene Skuland in Trøndelag police district.

At the same time as the extinguishing was going on, a fire started on another islet close by which had the same conditions.

On Sunday, a shed caught fire. The fire brigade perceived this as intentional because there was no electricity. Tuesday’s garage fire started in a part of the garage where there was no electricity and is perceived in the same way.

– We see all four fires in connection. They have occurred within a short period of time, and at a short distance from each other. There is nothing to indicate that these fires started in any other way than that someone lit them, says Skuland.

Police currently have no suspects, but are investigating further.
