At least four people were killed today (4/5) and 20 others were injured in a Russian missile attack on Zaporizhia, a large city in southern Ukraine, announced Ivan Fedorov, the governor of the Zaporizhia region.
A previous count, which Fedorov had announced via Telegram, spoke of three dead and 13 wounded.
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia carried out a double strike – a type of attack that consists of bombing one part once and then a second time when first responders and the press have arrived.
“Two rockets were fired initially, 40 minutes later another hit the same target just as rescuers and police began to work. Two journalists were injured,” Fedorov said in a video message.
On Platform X, the US ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink denounced a “horrible” practice that “apparently aims to kill first responders and journalists”.
Yesterday, three Ukrainian rescuers died in a double whammy in the large city of Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, with President Volodymyr Zelensky speaking of a “despicable and cynical” shelling.
