Yemen’s Houthis said on Sunday that at least four people were killed and 49 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on the western town of Al-Hodeidah,

The Al-Masirah TV channel, close to the Houthis, declared that “four people were martyred, including a worker at the port of Al-Hodeidah and three engineers from the power plant, as well as 49 others were injured according to an initial report. assessment of the Israeli aggression on the governorate.

Rescue teams and emergency workers are still searching for missing people under the rubble of the Al-Hali power plant, the channel added.

Images posted on social media show smoke rising from the area targeted by Israeli attacks.

For its part, the Israeli army declared in a statement: “During a large-scale air operation carried out today (Sunday), dozens of planes targeted military targets of the Houthi group in the regions of Ras Issa and Al-Hodeidah, Yemen.”

She added that “power plants and a seaport used for arms transfers” were hit.

The attack was a response to recent attacks by the Houthis against Israel, the army said.

Regional tensions have worsened due to Israel’s brutal offensive against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has left nearly 41,600 people dead, most of them women and children.

The conflict has spread to Lebanon, with Israel launching deadly strikes across the country, killing more than 800 people and injuring more than 2,500 since September 23.

Several Hezbollah officials, including its Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, were killed during these Israeli attacks.
