José Luís Peixoto will be in the spotlight: he gives a lecture and presents his most recent book “Onde”. Festival Latitudes has several initiatives per day and lasts until Sunday.

The 5th Festival Latitudes – Literature and Travelers returns to Óbidos this Thursday and runs until Sunday, the date that marks the World Book Day. The great novelty of this edition is the initiative “Journey through my land”, which will make known the culture and identity of the seven parishes of the council.

As part of the “Óbidos Vila Literária” program, Latitudes proposes a bus tour of Óbidos, between 10 am and 12.30 pm on Saturday, during which a guide will share the territory’s “legacies, traditions and memories”.

On Friday, at 3.30 pm, there will be a presentation of the “Cultural Routes of Óbidos”, at Casa José Saramago, and on Saturday, at 7 pm, the writer José Luís Peixoto will give a conference entitled “From Óbidos to far away”, at the Santiago Bookshop. On the same day, the author will present the book “Onde”, at Livraria do Mercado.

Within the vast programme, at 10 am on Sunday, there will be a free meeting of “urban sketchers” (urban designers), which will have the Church of Santiago as a meeting point.

The Latitudes program also includes exhibitions, book presentation sessions, poetry, concerts, shows, conferences, gatherings, moments of street entertainment, literary teas, and tasting dinners.
