Data from 2022 from the Grupo de Eletricidade Atmosférica Brasil (ELAT) indicate that the country has the highest incidence of lightning in the world. The senior sales manager for IT Channel & Commercial Industrial at Schneider Electric, Anderson Santos, points out that, to avoid losses in the face of this inevitable scenario, it is essential to have nobreaks or UPS (Uninterrupted Power Source), both in environments residential as well as commercial. Below, the executive lists four advantages of using these devices, especially during the heavy rainy season:

Stable connectivity: who uses UPS, has a longer useful life of electronics, clean energy, protection and electrical stability. “This is because its main function is to ensure that, in the event of an interruption of electricity, electronic devices do not have a short circuit. And they also guarantee connectivity for a while until power is restored”, he explains.

Asset protection: by preventing the electronics from burning, the UPS also protect the company, professionals at home office or even gamers of financial losses with the repair or purchase of new equipment, in addition to the loss of data in datacenters and the productivity of the operation, which also results in an increase in unforeseen costs.

Service continuity: according to the executive, although this advantage is related to stable connectivity, the non-interruption of an activity due to lack of electricity is extremely essential in stores, factories or even a critical operation, such as the hospital ICU, which cannot have its equipment off even for a second.

Security: nobreaks also ensure the physical security of facilities and systems as a whole. “Cameras, access controls and other electronic devices do not work without electricity and make environments physically vulnerable, which is why UPSs are also advantageous in this regard”, he informs.

Finally, Santos points out that climate change should continue to cause extreme and unprecedented events, hence the importance of anticipating the protection of electronic equipment.
