Taxiarchis Fountas scores three goals to help DC United beat Orlando City 5-3 on Monday night.
Fountas opened his private account with two goals in a span of three minutes in the first half and scored a third goal in the 51st minute.
Kimarni Smith, in the 74th minute, and Nigel Robertha, in the second-half stoppage, also scored for United.
Alexandre Pato, Facundo Torres and Ercan Kara were responsible for Orlando’s offensive production.
United’s next game will be at the Philadelphia Union on Friday, while Orlando hosts Miami on Saturday.
In California, Rayan Raveloson scored twice as the LA Galaxy defeated CF Montreal 4-0. Dejan Joveljic and Mexico’s Chicharito also scored for the Galaxy.
For their part, Inter Miami and FC Dallas tied 1-1. The Argentine Alan Velasco opened the scoring for Dallas in the 27th minute, while the Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana signed the tie at the last moment in the 89th minute.
In Colorado, Argentine Maximilano Urruti scored in the 59th minute as Austin FC beat the Colorado Rapids 3-2.
Ethan Finlay and Argentina’s Sebastian Driussi scored the other goals for Austin, while Las Abubakar and Jonathan Lewis scored for the hosts.
