Founder of Citybus: Electric bus test failed completely, approved KMB electric vehicle to cool the cabin and reduce vehicle life- Hong Kong unwire.hk

Lyndon Rees, the founder of Hong Kong Citybus, nicknamed “Grandpa”, Li Rixin recently said on social media that the battery electric bus test in Hong Kong has completely failed, and believes that electric buses that are continuously charged by diesel engines are a more feasible option for driving in Hong Kong.

Li Rixin posted on social media Facebook that the occupancy rate of electric buses is low. For example, the daily usage rate of KMB’s latest B12A rechargeable single-deck electric bus is only 50% at best, which is significantly lower than 95% for traditional buses. It has not been out to carry passengers for several months, which is not in line with economic and social needs.

Li Yat-shin also questioned KMB’s announcement that it will provide air-conditioned waiting areas with electric buses. He believes that the electric bus’s power is not sufficient to meet the demand for air-conditioning in hot weather, and the consumption of power may reduce the voyage of the bus in the future.

KMB has arranged electric buses as mobile cold-climate cabins at four bus terminals, Tsuen Wan West Station, Yen Chow Street, Sham Shui Po, Po Lam Terminus and Wong Tai Sin, for passengers to wait in extremely hot conditions.
