Found thanks to an AirTag, Sunwing refuses to return her suitcase

An Ontario woman who was separated from her suitcase as soon as her Sunwing flight departed south had difficulty finding it, even though the AirTag placed in it proved that she was near the tarmac at Pearson airport in Toronto for over two weeks.

It was when her plane was taking off over the holidays that Janet Greaves realized her luggage was still on the tarmac, she told CTV News.

When she arrived in Cuba, she received a notification from Sunwing telling her that her suitcase would not be forwarded, but that she would wait for it in Toronto on her return.

But, when his plane landed on January 2, the airline staff told him that it was impossible to get hold of his luggage in the warehouse.

“Well, he’s not here. He’s on the tarmac, just behind the Air Canada hangar,” she replied, showing him where the AirTag indicated his bag was.

It was, however, a secure area and so it was impossible to recover at that time. The same scenario repeated itself for 17 days, despite his repeated messages to Sunwing.

“He moved! Then I received a call from Swissport asking me to confirm that the luggage moved in accordance with my AirTag,” said Mr.me Greaves on Twitter on Friday, before finally finding her suitcase on Saturday morning.
