The Indonesian government through the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the UK government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to development cooperation. The MoU was carried out at the Bappenas Building and was attended directly by the Minister of PPN/Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa and the UK Minister for Development Anneliese Dodds, on Tuesday (17/9).
In his speech, Suharso said that Indonesia and the United Kingdom have a good and long-standing cooperative relationship. Through the MoU, both parties want to strengthen cooperation related to the development sector that can support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target and the vision of Indonesia Emas in 2045.
“We believe that in the future, development cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom is needed to achieve Indonesia’s development vision in 2045, and to support global development objectives,” said Suharso, Tuesday (17/9).
According to him, the cooperation will focus on strategic issues, including climate change, saving forests and nature, resource conservation, low-carbon energy development, developing regions, transportation, health, and others.
“This MOU will be a formal foundation to continue the cooperation that we have established and also sign new agreements that are linked to Indonesia’s development policies and the global development agenda such as SDG’s 2030,” he added.
Meanwhile, UK Development Minister Anneliese Dodds appreciated Indonesia’s support for global development.

“I am delighted to be here so soon after taking up my new role as UK government envoy for international development, women and equality. Indonesia is a valued friend and partner for my country,” she said.
