Biogenic fuel for NÖM milk collection vehicles enables 90% less CO2 emissions
Baden (OTS) – Switching to HVO fuel makes it possible. Because from now on, the milk will be picked up by 30% of the NÖM farming families with collection trucks that are fueled exclusively with fossil-free diesel HVO100 fuel. All of this was made possible by the long-term strong logistics partnership with the company BICHLER, which has foresightedly converted the entire fleet to synthetic fuel and is thus already making an important contribution to climate protection. As the first climate-neutral dairy, NÖM is consciously taking another sustainable step along the value chain with this cooperation in order to be able to look beyond the location in Baden into a climate-positive future.
Powerful battery instead of diesel engine
In addition, a powerful battery from SCHWARTE JANSKY is already being used in two milk collection vehicles during pump operation. This means that noise and diesel exhaust fumes during milk collection are a thing of the past. The milk pump, which is used to suck off the raw milk, is powered by a battery instead of a diesel engine, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and thus protecting the environment.
Strong partnerships invest in achieving climate goals
With a strong logistics partner like BICHLER and a good business relationship with NÖM that has existed for many years, innovative measures can be implemented across the board and can be expanded in the future.
„We bear great responsibility towards our NÖM team, our farmers and their families, and our beautiful region, so that it will still be worth living in for our children and grandchildren for many years to come
“, affirms Ing. Josef Simon, CEO of NÖM AG, the exemplary role as a climate-neutral dairy. “Our innovative strength is not only reflected in our products and in the technical area, but is also reflected along the supply chain. We are not afraid to adopt or help develop good systems. In close cooperation with our logistics partner, we are able to take innovative and climate-friendly paths and thus take another step towards a sustainable future
‘ Simon continued.
„The entire BICHLER fleet already runs on fossil-free diesel HVO100 fuel. All trucks also meet the latest Euro 6 standards and are therefore considered the cleanest and most ecological road transport solution due to the currently lowest possible emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases
“, Manfred Bichler, Managing Director of Bichler Spedition und Logistik GmbH, confirms the valuable contribution to climate protection.
Good to know:
HVO100 is the abbreviation for Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils “Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils”. A synthetic diesel fuel made from 100% plant and animal residues such as plants, plant residues and biogenic waste or manure. Due to its composition, it can completely replace conventional diesel and offers better performance through better combustion and reduced consumption.
The number “100” indicates that it is the pure form of HVO. Existing diesel vehicles can also be refueled with this fuel, as it has a similar chemical composition to conventional diesel fuel and therefore the engines or distribution systems do not have to be adapted.
The HVO100 fuel is therefore a fossil-free premium diesel product made from 100% renewable raw materials that do not emit any new carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
