Forza Motorsport: Almost 7 minutes of new scenes – but still no date

In addition to Redfall, Forza Motorsport certainly played one of the biggest roles at last night’s Developer_Direct. There were plenty of details to hear about the racer and also a lot of gameplay to see, but Microsoft still owed a release date for the time being.

At last night’s Xbox & Bethesda Developer_Direct, developers at Turn 10 Studios provided a nearly seven-minute look at the upcoming racing game Forza Motorsport and revealed all sorts of new details in this context. However, one initially did not comment on the release date; Furthermore, the year 2023 is communicated as the publication period.

So what was new last night? Turn 10 Studios stated that the new Forza Motorsport aims to “reach the next generation of the racing franchise” in terms of depth, immersion and realism; the technical leap should be quite large in this respect.

In terms of scope, too, it is not a mess, but a lot: over 500 real cars will be represented in the game, including 100 vehicles that are completely new in the series. Thanks to more than 800 unique upgrades and modifications, you can customize all of these bodies. In any case, the vehicles should look even better thanks to the use of new technologies; for example, countless data points regarding the light behavior on the surface and the resulting reflections were collected and entered.

In use, the vehicles should become more realistic in terms of the accumulation of dirt or the damage model in the event of collisions. The driving experience should be even better thanks to advances in physics simulation.

At launch of the game there will be 20 environments with multiple track layouts. In addition to well-known fan favourites, there are also completely new motorsport locations, including Kyalami for the first time in South Africa. These environments will also be much more realistic, because according to Turn 10 you can expect ten times higher detail in terms of vegetation and vegetation around the tracks.

Audio improvements, including due to collaborations with Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos, as well as a dynamic time of day system including weather mechanics and different temperatures with real effects round out the new feature package.

Forza Motorsport is slated for release sometime in 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
