The 21-year-old Czech striker Ivan Ivan, with his excellent performances in the farm AHL, has claimed a contract one step higher – he agreed on a contract with the Avalanche until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

The contract will be valid from next year, Ivan will finish this year with the Eagles in the AHL: in their jersey this year he impressed with 27 points (12+15) in 51 games. Of the Czech players, only Matěj Blümel, Lukáš Rousek, Jiří Kulich and Adam Klapka are doing better on the farm.

Ivan signed with Colorado despite never going through the draft. But the Avalanche know him well from the summer training camp, following which they offered him the opportunity to work on their farm.

He took advantage of this chance and despite the winding road, he has an NHL contract in his pocket. In a similar way, Gabriel Szturc, his former teammate from the youth national team, asked for a contract (we wrote regarding it here).

The financial terms of Colorado’s deal with Ivan were not disclosed.

The breakthrough season for Ivan was the one dated 2021/2022. He basically returned to hockey following a one-year break, then due to suspended competitions due to covid – the versatile center collected a point per game in the junior QMJHL, he also played in the Under-20 World Championship.

He made further progress last year, already shining in the QMJHL with 94 points in 68 games. And he is also having a great season in the men’s premier league, leading all rookie statistics for the Colorado Eagles.
