The new Floberry item in Fortnite is causing problems for many players. A debate was therefore launched by the players: is this a bug or a new mechanism in the game?

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 is in full swing, and players can now experience all the new features. Indeed, Epic Games has added brand new bosses, vehicles, and much more to the game.

Among the new objects added, the Flobaie stands out. This new fruit allows those who consume it and their nearby teammates to regain shield. Additionally, it temporarily reduces gravity and provides immunity to falling damage, making it a good choice to consume before taking a big jump.

However, this new item arrived with some controversy on the famous Fortnite island as the Floberry’s fleeting effect played a trick on several players.

A player sparks the debate on Flobaies with a clip posted on Reddit

Reddit user u/GMR_Knocker posted a clip on Reddit in which the player dies from fall damage shortly following consuming a Floberry, just seconds following taking a second big jump. In the post title, the OP refers to “ these ‘bright’ berries which don’t have the expected effect ».

However, we can see in the video that the Floberry’s effect ends (the pink streak disappears) when making the jump, allowing fall damage once more.

One player commented that this is a new bug, arguing that ” normally when low gravity runs out in midair it still counters fall damage “. The same effect occurs with shockwaves or low gravity augmentation.

Many agreed with this user, but this clip quickly opened the debate: is this a new bug, or is this a new mechanic in Fortnite? To find out the answer, we’ll have to wait and see what Epic has to say, although it’s very likely that this is a new bug. Indeed, the developers have not announced the arrival of a new game mechanism in Chapter 5.
