ALGIERS- The Manadjim El-Djazair (Manal) group has started the construction of several processing units as part of the strategy for the valorization of mining products, some of which will enter into service in the coming days, said Monday in Algiers the CEO. (CEO) of the group, Mohamed Sakhr Harami.
Alex Reed of the Forum of the national radio station Chaine 1, Mr. Harami specified that “the strategy adopted by the Ministry of Energy consists in exporting recovered mining materials, as well as the construction of factories for this purpose”.
“We have started, at group level, the construction of several processing plants, some of which will come into service in the coming days,” he continued.
He recalled, in this regard, the bentonite factories in Meghnia (Tlemcen), carbonate factories in Sig (Mascara) and El Kheroub, in addition to the feldspar production unit in Annaba and dolomite (Oum El Bouaghi) one of the iron components.
These plants, which are at the final stage of construction and some of which will be commissioned, will contribute to ensuring the availability of the raw materials needed by industry in several sectors.
Referring to the Gara Djebilet project in Tindouf, the CEO of the National Iron and Steel Company (Ferral), Ahmed Benabbas, recalled in turn the agreement concluded last Thursday with the Tosyali steel complex in Bethioua in Oran, relating to the launch of an iron ore concentrate production unit in the wilaya of Bechar.
The agreement sets out the measures to be undertaken for the creation of a Ferral-Tosyali joint venture in September, while guaranteeing the conditions for the company to directly begin construction of the first plant, which will be in the wilaya of Béchar.

In this context, Mr. Benabbas reported on a second partnership with a Chinese group for the creation of a joint venture which this time will be dedicated to carrying out a project for export to China.
Discussions are also underway with Algerian Qtari Steem “AQS” Ballara to supply this company with the steel raw material.
Regarding the Gara Djebilet mine, Mr. Benabbas said that many Arab and European countries, as well as Japan, China and Turkey, have expressed their willingness to establish a partnership.
Concerning the major structuring projects, in particular the strategic integrated phosphate project, the same official specified that a company was created in partnership between the industrial mining group Manadjim El Djazaïr (Manal) and the Industrial Group Fertilizers and Phytosanitary Products (ASMIDAL) on the Algerian side, and two Chinese companies for the Chinese partner.
This company is currently working to finalize all the feasibility and technical studies to actually start the project, before presenting it to the Council of State Participations (CPE) to take the final decision on the investment, he said. he adds.
With regard to the Oued Amizour Lead Zinc mining project, the manager reported the completion of several phases and the feasibility study, risks and environmental impacts, indicating that the group intends to build a factory to recover Zinc in order to meet local demand and export surplus production.
