On August 9, Colo Colo received a response from FIFA in the case Juan Martin Lucero. The world governing body failed with a four-month suspension without playing for Gato and two transfer markets without signing players for Fortalezaalthough without the compensation of 2.1 million dollars that the Cacique demanded.
But this Thursday Fortaleza, through a Press releasereported that he managed to momentarily reverse the player’s suspension, so for the moment he will not serve his punishment:
“Fortaleza Esporte Clube informs that the Court of Arbitration for Sport, through a decision issued on this date, has suspended the effects of the decision of the FIFA Claims Court, which had determined a sports sanction to the athlete Juan Martín Lucero“, indicated the Brazilian club.
In this way, they managed to get away with it at least until a new definitive resolution in the TAS: “In this way, it is reported that the athlete is immediately free to play for Fortaleza EC, in all the competitions in which he is registered. The athlete and the club await a new sentence of the case that will be carried out, also before the TAS”.
When will Juan Martín Lucero serve his punishment?
With this new measure reported by Fortaleza, plus the steps that Colo Colo and the club have to follow in this case, Juan Martín Lucero will serve the four-month punishment once the final ruling is known in the TAS, a post-trial instance in the FIFA.
Why was Lucero suspended?
The sanction of the first ruling issued by FIFA is because the Argentine left Colo Colo unilaterally for Fortaleza, which caused great damage to the Cacique both sporting and economic. But he still will not complete the four months of punishment, according to what was reported by the Brazilian club.
