Sunday morning, the police were called to a residence in Sprimont for a potential Fort Chabrol. Arrived on the spot, the agents found that a man born in 1962 had taken refuge in his home, refusing to open his door to the police. It was the suspect’s ex-wife who called the police because she “felt that something was wrong”.
Indeed, the man potentially held a rifle, a riot gun, as well as a handgun, but his ex-wife thought that he did not have ammunition. It took until the early followingnoon for the man to agree to surrender.
When the police entered his home, they discovered the owner’s lifeless dog, killed by a gun. Officers also found ammunition and weapons there. It would appear that the man has alcohol problems and is suicidal.
The man was deprived of liberty and referred to the Liège prosecutor’s office on Monday. An application for an arrest warrant has been made once morest the suspect for violation of the law on weapons and violation of animal welfare.
