FORNOTH release singles “The Ferryman and the Lock Keeper” and “Assembling Trees” The two title tracks were mixed and mastered by Deep Noise Studios’ Saku Moilanen, while the B-sides are self-produced.
The first single has been out since 9/9/22. It tells a story of partisan jealousy between the two characters, speaking through the mind of the lock keeper. It’s timeless, energetic, yet folksy; has a doomy/mastodon-inspired riff; is blackened; even has a little jazzy break in it. We’re very proud of this single and its accompanying B-side, Stranger to the Sea, which is a thematic and narrative continuation – a lament for the titular ferryman.
We hope that the latter single “Assembling Trees” will be released this year. This single is regarding sentient trees fighting for their home (we affectionately call it “ent-core”), opening with an Irish Traditional theme and opening out proggy before taking a rather heavy Death Metal twist. It also has an accompanying B-side “Roots of Ritual”, which functions more as a prequel and conjures up an image of the Guardian Trees of Irish lore.
