Formula 1: Verstappen expects Ferrari to be fast in Hungary

Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen believes Ferrari will be very fast in the Hungarian Grand Prix, round 13 of the 2022 Formula One World Championship.

Verstappen won the French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard last week, but was only able to take the lead following his top Ferrari rival Charles Leclerc, who crashed at Turn 11, withdrew.

Leclerc’s withdrawal boosted Verstappen’s lead in the drivers’ world championship standings, with a 63-point advantage over his nearest rival, with 10 rounds remaining at the end of the season.

This advantage leads many to believe that Verstappen is close to winning the world title for the second year in a row. However, the Dutchman believes that the situation is more complicated than that, especially as he expects Ferrari to enjoy a distinguished pace in the next round at the Hungaroring circuit.

Hamilton: Verstappen is the favorite to win the title

“Of course I have a comfortable advantage in the drivers’ world championship standings, but several things can happen until the end of the season,” Verstappen said.

He continued: “I have to maintain my focus, and I must continue to achieve good results. I think we are lacking in qualifying conditions.”

“I expect us to suffer a lot in the next round, as the Ferrari is expected to be very fast,” he added.. But we have to wait and see what happens.”

He continued: “The main objective is to score as many points as possible in each race, even in races where we don’t have the performance to fight for victory.”
