Formula 1 Sprint Race Recap: Hamilton Takes Advantage, Russell Penalized, and Leclerc on Pole

2023-10-21 22:39:20

The start is extremely tight at the front with Leclerc close to passing Verstappen to take control of the sprint race. In the end, it was Hamilton who took advantage of the situation to grab second place, to the benefit of the Monegasque. Behind, George Russell receives a five-second penalty for obstructing Pierre Gasly. The Briton finally ranks eighth.

If Verstappen is never worried, the fight rages behind, notably between the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz (on soft tires throughout the event), the McLaren of Norris or the Mercedes of Russell.

At the end of the race, Lance Stroll is forced to put away his Aston Martin following a mechanical problem. The Canadian has not scored a single point for five Grands Prix.

As a reminder, the sprint race awards eight points to the winner, seven to second, six to third and so on.

See you this Sunday from 8:30 p.m. on Tipik for Warm Up, before experiencing the 18th start of the season straight away, with Leclerc on pole.
