Formula 1: Mick Schumacher posts photo – emotional Schumi moment – Formula 1

This photo touches all Schumi fans!

Mick Schumacher (23) scored his first points in Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. After 31 races without a top ten finish, Michael Schumacher’s son (53) finished eighth.

Mick: “It feels really nice, it was a lot of fun out there. Collecting the first points with a nice race is of course special.”

The Haas driver posts a photo on Instagram that gives all Schumacher fans goosebumps: It shows Mick being hugged by his mentor Sebastian Vettel (turned 35 on Sunday and ninth in the race) following the race. Schumacher writes: “Happy Birthday, Seb”.

The photo is reminiscent of a legendary snapshot taken on November 25, 2012 in Interlagos (Brazil). At that time, Michael Schumacher got his last points in Formula 1 and finished seventh. After crossing the finish line, an almost identical photo was taken: Schumi, Vettel’s mentor himself, hugs the man from Heppenheim and congratulates him on his third world title.

Hard to believe: there are 3507 days between the two photos!

Vettel: “I’m happy for him. I was hoping that he would still grab Max (World Champion Verstappen, ed.) – I think that was close. It was long overdue. That will definitely help for the future. Of course there is no stone in the way, so the stones are cleared away sooner.”

Haas team boss Günther Steiner (57), who had recently put pressure on Mick: “Mick did a great job, even in the fight with Verstappen. I mean it’s not bad. He’s world champion following all. He can fight and it was good for Mick to learn.”

Did that break Mick’s knot? The Schumi son was recently criticized because he had caused many accidents but had not scored any points. The first points and the emotional Schumi moment might change that now.
