The puzzle is over!
Kevin Magnussen (29) is Mick Schumacher’s (22) new teammate. The Dane replaces Nikita Mazepin (23), whose end was announced together with title sponsor Uralkali on Saturday. The Haas racing team confirmed this on Wednesday evening.
This makes Mick’s teammate an old hand in Formula 1!

Magnussen on his return: “I was of course very surprised but also very pleased when I received the call from the Haas F1 Team. I’ve been looking in a different direction for my 2022 commitments but the opportunity to return to Formula 1 and with a team I know very well was just too tempting.”
Magnussen drove for Haas from 2017 to 2020. In total, he competed in 119 races in the premier class of motorsport. So now, following a year of Formula 1 break, the unexpected return.
Magnussen will be used alongside Mick and backup pilot Pietro Fittipaldi (25) for the test drives in Bahrain that begin on Thursday. Last year he drove in a sports car series in the USA.
Team Principal Günther Steiner (56): “I am delighted to welcome Kevin Magnussen back to the Haas F1 Team. Looking for a driver who would add value to the team, not to mention his extensive Formula 1 experience, Kevin was a clear choice for us.”
Bitter for Niko Hulkenberg (34)! He was also repeatedly traded as a successor and now remains a substitute driver at Aston Martin.
